Hello, Welcome to Taming Rover! My name is Louise Stoodley, myself and my 10 year old black lab cross, Raina, have traveled across Canada together numerous times! From St. John's Newfoundland (my hometown) to Victoria British Columbia and beyond, we have met tons of people, dogs cats and many other creatures along our way.

In September of 2010 I decided that I would take my love of dogs to another level so I signed up to do a 3 month intensive dog trainers course. Well, I got halfway through before an injured thumb prevented me from completing.

I returned in the spring to finish the program and as of mid June 2011 I am now officially certified. I discovered a lot during the time I spent with my instructors and the crew of trainers (from both programs!), not the least of which was the fact that I know now more than ever, that pursuing the dream of being a traveling certified dog trainer is what I truly wish to do.

Wonderdogs Professional Training Program, class september - december 2010
I always felt that training dogs was something I would excel at and could stand behind as a profession. Now after years of traveling Canada as a backpacker, wandering... roving... I feel I am ready to make a move and develop my skills with something I truly believe in. My goal is to help people develop a better relationship with their dog(s). I want to be a teacher of the language of dogs and in doing so, provide the service of bringing balance to a relationship that is too often marred by simple ignorance. I also acknowledge that I am very much still a learner on this path as well and may only know marginally more than the average Joe. I am happy though, to share what experience I do have with those willing to listen. More than just training, I wish to help people figure out how to work with their dogs on their own! To me, more times than not, dog training is about educating the owners and I believe that dog owners should be hands on and involved in the training as much as possible so that they really get to know their dog and what makes them tick...

Please feel free to email me with any questions about what I do, where I'll be going next or, if you just want to talk dogs, I'm all for it!

Thanks for visiting!
